With his finger on the pulse of the design industry, Dwayne is constantly spotting emerging trends. While they do not directly influence his design decisions, they do inform public tastes to some degree. Whether or not these design movements find a home in one of Dwayne’s projects, we’re sure to see more of them in the year to come.

From wood to tile, linear fluted designs are popping up everywhere, adding visual texture to a space. Hard materials in rounded shapes is a trend we’ve been seeing for a few seasons, softening the edges to make an otherwise flat surface more dynamic.

Candy colored stemware is widely available after making a resurgence a few years back. The trend has now made its way into interiors through lighting and tops of tables. While pink wine glasses sound fun, we opt for smokey or amber hued colored glass in our decor.

Post-pandemic it seemed all our furniture was rounded and organic, offering a much needed “hug”. Then, to contrast the soft silhouettes, geometric shapes were introduced. Now we’re seeing the emergence of architectural lines in everything from upholstery to tables, prints and lighting. Think of the stepped profile of a skyscraper.

Nature is our interiors is certainly not a fleeting trend, but the way it is interpreted does change with current tastes. The iconic Beverly Hills Hotel palm print is so ubiquitous, but leaf motifs, both literal and abstract, are adorning lighting, art, and decor this season.

While Dwayne loves scouring the market for the latest innovations and introductions, the one “trend” he always abides by is bespoke interiors. Creating spaces that are unique to the inhabitants, meant to withstand the test of time, never goes out of style.
